Mas, thanks for the article. I have not finished reading it in one sitting, but already it is very inspirational. Allahyarham K's "attitude" of "redha" is the most heartfelt explanation of "redha" I've found. So I now understand "redha" much better that puts in perspective the happenings in my daily life.
It is ironic that choosing "surrender"/"redha" over "strength" results in strength after all!
I wanted to wait after finishing reading the article before commenting here, but I decided to write tonight because I just told my wife, Marsila that I'll print it for her to read. This is because she is in tears being moved by how her younger sister, Hawa is so "strong" with worsening cancer - I offered to Marsila that Hawa has probably found the "redha attitude".
I read the book "Tuesdays With Morrie" by Mitch Albom in 2003 and 2005 and saw the movie on Hallmark channel in 2005 -- each of the 3 instances I cry. Now halfway through the article, I cry with Marsila.
Morrie gave the perspective of a western professor facing death, already inspirational. Allahyarham K's article from a Muslim's perspective "completes" the perspecive.
