I was a guest of Faz Kamar and Nurul Fathiyah Muen in a live-streaming show for a bookchat on Adam Grant's book, "Give and Take: Why Helping Others Drive Our Success."

Haslinda asked a question ahead of the bookchat, “Can we give too much?”
We certainly can, but at what cost?
Once upon a time from the giver perspective, I did give too much. At the cost of me collapsing then being driven to the emergency room of Putrajaya Hospital!
I wanted to be hero. I took on a 3-day training assignment at short notice. Ahead of and during the assignment I kept “perfecting” the training materials so slept little. That drained me.
Lessons learned. I could have still delivered excellent training without burning myself out. I could have earlier insisted on more complete materials from the training provider. Or even have declined the assignment. I could also have had a healthier lifestyle of exercise that could have made me hardy and fit for the physical demands of the assignment.
